Happy Birthday/Father's Day to my husband!

Today is my Kyle's 31st birthday! I took him out on a little mini date last night to one of our favorite restaurants then we went home and snuggled on the couch. Not exactly an exciting evening, but we're about to become the parents of two. You can't expect too much from us.

For his birthday, I ordered him a bunch of shooting targets and whatnot so he could play with his new handgun, but unfortunately they won't be coming in for a few weeks. Poo. Since he can't be without presents on his birthday and the ones I ordered should arrive just in time for Father's Day, I figured I'd pull a little switcheroo and give him his Father's Day gifts tonight.

Each of the kids picked out a few gifts for Daddy (meaning, I went shopping on my lunch break and bought presents that I'm going to put their names on). From Vivienne, he's getting a dirty diaper trash bag dispenser for his car and a sappy book to read to her about daddies and daughters. Then I decided to finally get Daddy the Nerf swords that he's been trying to talk Logan into wanting for months. (Logan always picks out something else and poor Daddy leaves swordless every time.) They will be strictly outdoors toys though because these suckers are about 3' long and our house is definitely not big enough for Nerf sword combat.

On Father's Day, Kyle will be getting his awesome birthday presents which consist of a shooting target stand, some small clay disk targets (that he most likely won't be able to hit because he's a pretty terrible shot...but don't tell him I said that), and a pack of zombie paper targets. I think he'll be most excited about bustin' a cap in some corpses! I can't wait to see his face when he opens them! I'm sure he'd never guess that I'd buy him something like that, which will make it even more fun for me.

If it seems like I'm shopping for a teenager rather than a 31 yr old man, well what can I say, my husband likes his toys. I guess part of the fun of being a parent is getting to buy your kids all the stuff you wish they had when you were young (and then getting to play with all those cool new toys). Hopefully he'll enjoy all his birthday and Father's Day gifts, because he's an AMAZING husband and father and he absolutely deserves all of this and more!

Never trust a big butt and a smile...

I've been a really crappy blogger and I'm sorry! I promise I'm going to try to be better and post more than just my weekly belly shot from now on! To make it up to you, here is a video of my Monster shakin his groove thang. These aren't his best moves...not by a long shot...stupid Wonder Pets was distracting him. I'll try to get a better video another time, but for now, enjoy!

More baby eye candy!

We spent a little time with baby Jackson and his parents this weekend. Of course, this means I have more pictures! Jackson is SUCH a doll. We were there for about 4 hours and he didn't cry or fuss once. Hopefully I'll have the same luck with Vivienne! Enjoy!

Jackson had a "blow out" and needed an outfit change.

Baby Bump @ 29 Weeks!

Vivienne's 1st trip to Ocean City, MD!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby is growing rapidly now. This week she weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is getting bigger to accommodate her growing brain — which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.

How Far Along? 29 weeks

Total Weight Gained/Loss?  I think about 15 lbs according to the scale at my family doctor on Thursday.

Maternity Clothes?  I really need to find some cute below-the-belly capris. Not having much luck so far.

Sleep?  Non-existent. Even IF I can manage to find a comfortable sleeping position, I can't seem to get my temperature regulated.

Best Moment of the Week?  Our ultrasound. It's always wonderful to see our princess! The ultrasound tech kept telling us how beautiful she is and that she had the most perfect, pouty little lips. I'll get pics up soon hopefully.

Movement?  More nudging, prodding, and wiggles now rather than the kicks and punches to which I had grown accustomed. I guess she's getting too big for anything more than a wiggle.

Food Cravings? Pistachios, fresh local strawberries, and my mother-in-law's peach dessert that I made this weekend (Hubs even liked mine better!)

Food aversions?  Beef still smells like cow. Not food.

Gender?  Lady

Belly Button:  Still not fully out.

What I miss:  Not feeling like there is a bowling ball sitting on my chest. I think I'll enjoy taking a full breath almost as much as I'll enjoy finally meeting her.

What I'm looking forward to:  My baby shower on the 19th, hopefully a maternity photo sesh on the beach in June or July, lazy Sundays floating around my inlaws' pool, and finally getting the nursery finished!

Milestones?  None that I can think of.

Enough to make your uterus cry...

This was me and Baby Jackson on Sunday (and his mom Karen, of course).

This is me and Jackson (and a very excited Logan) on Monday night!

In just 11 short weeks, he'll be holding OUR baby!

Logan was so excited to see the new baby that he peed (I kid you not) 3 times during the 15 minutes that we were there!

Baby Bump @ 27 & 28 Weeks!

27 Weeks

28 Weeks

How your baby's growing:
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
 How Far Along?  28 weeks

Total Weight Gained/Loss? 12 lbs

Maternity Clothes?   I'm seriously LIVING in dresses. I haven't felt this girly in a LOOOONG time. I've had such a hard time finding bermuda shorts and capris that look good and fit comfortably, so dresses have become my warm weather staple. It sucks to have to shave my legs so often, but on the bright side, I can throw on a dress and a pair of flip-flops and people think I'm dressed up.

Sleep?  I'll sleep when I'm dead.

Best Moment of the Week?  My ex-boyfriend's wedding! Pics to come!

Movement?   Constant.

Food Cravings?   Tacos/Enchiladas from La Tonalteca, Green Giant White Shoepeg Corn in a Butter Sauce, and strawberries

Food aversions?   Still steak and shrimp

Gender? GI Jane

Belly Button:  I can't stop touching it.

What I miss: having a functional air conditioning unit in my office. I am SWEATING!

What I'm looking forward to:  Our ultrasound this afternoon!

Milestones?  I received my first stranger belly touch last week. And, more importantly, we have entered the 3rd trimester! Won't be long now!

Contracting.

It's been an interesting weekend ladies... It actually started out pretty great and somehow we managed to enjoy ourselves AND fit a lot on without the time flying by. When we went to bed Saturday night I couldn't believe that we still had another day left of weekend. Sunday, however, things changed. It went well enough to start: I made breakfast, we did a little shopping, then we went out to my inlaws' house to shoot (or in our case: miss) some targets with my husband's new handgun. Once we left there I started having stomach cramps. We stopped at the grocery store to pick up stuff for dinner and I ended up having to go out and sit in the car because they were getting pretty painful. Like, contraction painful. Kyle took me home and put me to bed where I spent the next day and a half completely incapable of getting myself into a comfortable position and feeling like a total bum for just laying around. It was nice to sleep in and play hookie from work yesterday, but I really prefer to do that when I'm feeling perfectly fine and can actually DO something. It sucked. And, no, I didn't call my doctor. I know every pregnancy is different, but I've been in labor before, and even though these cramps hurt, I knew they weren't the real thing. I didn't see the need to have my doctor send me to the ER just to be told to do what I was already doing (and have to pay a $135 copay). Dont worry, I was going to call if things got worse or kept up for much longer, but fortunately it all worked itself out. Kyle's co-worker told him yesterday that he remembered reading somewhere that loud noises can cause pre-term labor, so I've been forbidden from using the gun again until after V makes her appearance. I doubt it's likely that I nearly scared her out of me, but whatever. Kyle pretty much never puts his foot down, so if he feels that stronly about it, I won't argue. So here's the quick recap: I was having contractions, I laid around for a day and a half and drank water like it was my job, the contractions stopped, and I'm not allowed to shoot any more guns. All is well. V is active as always and I'm feeling just fine. So anyway, I've been working on my weekly bump post, but since I laid around and looked like ass all weekend, I don't have a picture for it yet. I'll post as soon as I get that taken care of.

How was your weekend? Better than mine, I hope!
